Coeliac – Gluten allergy

What is gluten?

Complex grain protein (1: 1 complex of glutenin and gliadin).

What is coeliac disease?

Hereditary autoimmune disease - gluten-sensitive enteropathy with severe sequelae. The body is unable to break down gluten.

Treatment:

There is no drug therapy - a completely gluten-free diet is the only treatment - a lifelong “zero diet”.

“Diet accident” is common - gluten breakdown enzymes can be used.

Tolerase-G - the gluten-degrading enzyme:

It is an “acid-fast” enzyme (prolyl-oligopeptidase) fermented by Aspergillus niger that uniquely breaks down the gluten protein chain (at proline elements) at the acidic pH of the stomach.

Indications

For preventional and protectional purposes:

The enzyme in Glutenzim Direct (Tolerase® G) breaks down any gluten contaminants consumed with food during a gluten-free diet.  The use of this product is not a substitute for a gluten-free diet and is not suitable for the treatment or prevention of coeliac disease.
